Catholic Engages Bodaboda Youth In New Programme

The Catholic Church has commenced a boda boda youth education programme to guard them against exploitation by politicians.

Dubbed Quo Vadis Youth Hub, the project kicked off in Nyeri and the first graduands were awarded certification last week.

Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria said boda boda operators are a key cog in economic empowerment hence the need to equip them with requisite skills.

The curriculum includes paralegal education, human dignity, financial management and first aid skills.

"The boda boda phenomena is an integral part of our society. We want the players to be fully equipped and knowledge-empowered to make them easily integrate with society" Muheria said.

He said boda bodas were a preferred method of transportation in rural and urban centres and can no longer be wished away.
