Chama Cha Uzalendo party leader and Gubernatorial hopeful Nzioka Waita has launched his Gubernatorial manifesto with a solemn pledge to eradicate poverty in the county.
In the manifesto, the Machakos governor Aspirant pledged a county where citizens are more economically empowered and access the highest possible attainable standards of living through transformative social, economic and political policies.
The former Chief of Staff said his manifesto was mainly informed by the wishes of Residents who he consulted during the numerous listening tours he conducted across the 40 wards of the County.
He unveilied six pillar manifesto, which focuses on Health, Agriculture, Water, Education, Tourism and Jobs at Machakos hotel today.
The manifesto packaged in form of a newspaper named ‘Machakos Metro’ is first of its kind with 400,000 copies distributed to villages and available at the local newspaper vendors across the county.
In his keynote address to the invited guests at the event Mr Waita hit Slammed current County government for poor service delivery, pending bills of Sh2.8 billion owed to employees and contractors which is the 5th largest county debt in Kenya.
Nzioka promised to introduce a one year tax moratorium for market vendor across the county to cushion them from Covid 19.
He also promised to actualize promotion of county government workers and smooth working environment.
Waita is the First Gubernatorial Aspirant to Launch his Manifesto flanked by her Running mate Florence mwangangi.
The Machakos governorship race is shaping into a battle of political heavyweights in the county and beyond.
It has attracted United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Chairman Johnson Muthama, former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita (Chama Cha Uzalendo), former Transport Chief Administrative Secretary Wavinya Ndeti (Wiper) and Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Maliti (Maendeleo Chap Chap Party).
