Kenya’s rising football sensation Aldrine Kibet has earned his first-ever call-up to the Harambee Stars senior national team as head coach Benni McCarthy announced his squad for the upcoming November FIFA international window.
The Celta Vigo youngster, who has been shining in Spain with the club’s youth side, will be hoping to make his senior debut when Kenya plays Madagascar and Comoros in friendly matches scheduled for Antalya, Turkey.
Kenya will open the two-match series against Madagascar on November 14, before facing Comoros on either November 17 or 18, with the exact date to be confirmed by organizers.
The matches will serve as crucial tune-up fixtures as the Stars continue their preparations for future AFCON and World Cup qualifiers.
The call-up marks a major milestone for Kibet, who first rose to prominence during the school games where he was voted Most Valuable Player after leading St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale to glory.
His creative playmaking and technical brilliance have since earned him a move to Europe and now a place in the senior national team.
McCarthy’s squad for the Turkish tour features a blend of experienced internationals and exciting young talents.
Among the notable returns is Zamalek defender Baron Ochieng’, who re-joins the side after previously earning his maiden call up under Engin Firat.
Also making a long-awaited comeback is Ovella Ochieng’ of Nairobi United, whose pace and trickery will add depth to Kenya’s attacking options.
The friendly matches will give McCarthy an opportunity to test new combinations, assess his players’ fitness, and build a team capable of competing strongly in upcoming competitions.
Kenya’s camp is expected to assemble early November, with McCarthy keen to use the matches to build cohesion and continue the positive momentum within the national team setup.
