Bail Ruling For Cops Accused Of Killing Inmate, Postponed

The ruling of a bail term application filed by five police officers from Changamwe police station charged with the murder of an inmate has been postponed to Tuesday next week.

This comes after the trial Judge informed the applicants that the ruling which was expected to be delivered today was not ready due to unavoidable circumstances.

The five police officers were arrested in 2018, however, the prosecution objected to their release on bond citing the security of witnesses to be risk in a situation the police officers are released.

The five police officers who were charged at Milimani High Court are alleged to have murdered a suspect who was in lawful police custody at Changamwe Police Station in Mombasa County in 2018.

The 5 police officers are; Khalif Abdulahi Sagat, James Muli Koti, Joseph Odhiambo Sirawa, Edward Kongo Onchonga and Nelson Nkanae.

They are charged with the murder of Caleb Esipino Otieno alias Wiango in 2018.
