On Friday, chaos broke out at numerous polling stations during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party grassroots elections in parts of Nairobi, forcing the exercise to be cancelled.
Supporters of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, who is vying for UDA Chairman in the capital, battled with supporters of Embakasi North MP James Gakuya at the South B center.
The situation got worse when a group of youths stormed the centre, causing election officials to be whisked to safety.
A blame game erupted between the factions, with Sakaja supporters filing complaints at the party headquarters.
Narok, Busia, West Pokot, and Homa Bay counties are all holding grassroots elections as well.
Confusion had plagued the process on Thursday, when UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala declared a postponement of the elections in the aforementioned counties.
The UDA National Elections Board (NEB) later dismissed the statement, accusing Malala of seeking to usurp its powers.
