Chaos Erupts at MCSK Offices as New Board Members Denied Access

Drama unfolded at the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) offices in Nairobi on Sunday when newly elected board members were blocked from taking up their leadership roles.

The new members, who claim they were elected during an extraordinary general meeting, were shocked to find themselves locked in a room and assaulted by hired goons upon their arrival.

The new board members, armed with documents confirming their appointments, expressed anger and frustration outside the MCSK offices, questioning the management’s intentions.

They cited poor governance and the misappropriation of Ksh56 million as key reasons for their exclusion.

One of the new leaders recounted the ordeal, saying, “They came in with another goon, they pushed me to the ground and tore my trousers.”

Another called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the alleged graft, urging music users to continue paying license fees for the benefit of artists.

Despite showing police officers their official documents, the new members lamented that the officers did nothing to assist them.

The management of MCSK has yet to respond to these serious allegations, leaving many wondering how the situation will unfold.
