Charges after flares thrown in Europa League match

Two people have been charged after a series of incidents at Nottingham Forest’s Europa League home tie against Turkish side Fenerbahçe.

Police arrested three people after the incidents, which included flares being thrown from the away end, which stopped the game in the first half.

Ender Celik, 37, of Chatsworth Road, Hackney, London, has been charged with throwing a missile at an area adjacent to a football pitch.

Dale Morgan, 38, of Bransdale Road, Nottingham, was charged with going on to a playing area at a football match.

Nottinghamshire Police said Celik was bailed with conditions until an appearance at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 17 March.

Morgan was also bailed with conditions ahead of an appearance at the same court on 17 March, in a separate hearing to Celik.

No further action was taken against a man arrested on suspicion of assaulting a steward, police added.

A section of seating in the away end was also discovered to have been damaged after fans left the area at the end of the game.

Forest lost the Europa League play-off 2-1 on the night at the City Ground, but went through 4-2 on aggregate.
