The outgoing IEBC Chair, Mr. Wafula Chebukati is expected to table a corroborative eyewitness testimony in the petition seeking to pin the Cherera four.
The Justice Aggrey Muchelule-led tribunal’s proceedings against three former IEBC Commissioners and suspended Commissioner Irene Masit is set to begin in less than a week.
Retiring IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and seven others have been named as primary witnesses in the case against his colleagues.
Other key witnesses are Abdi Yakub Guliye, Boya Molu, and CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan, General Manager of Yaya Apartments, General Manager of Serena Hotel, and a Protected Witness will testify against the ‘Cherera 4’.
Masit, Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, and Justus Nyangaya are said to have met high-profile Azimio agents at Yaya Apartments between the 15th and 17th of August in rooms 21, 23, and 27.
This was after the four held a parallel meeting at Serena hotel minutes before the IEBC Chairperson, Wafula Chebukati declared Ruto as the President-elect.
Masit, on the other hand, accuses the tribunal of “obtaining what is supposed to be her admittance into a public hotel as though visiting such a facility is unlawful or malicious.”
The suspended Commissioner has characterized the whole investigative process as a legal sham, stating that it has been conducted in defiance of the constitution, standing orders, and recognized law since its beginning.
