Chelsea are already in talks with Inter about the permanent transfer of Romelu Lukaku, according to a report in the CalcioMercato today.
The striker signed for Chelsea from the Italian side for a record €100m just a year ago, before having a nightmare campaign in his return to the Premier League.
The Blues decided to cut their losses this summer and kick the can down the line by loaning the forward back to where he came from.
He’s picked up an injury already, but the Italians are still keen to make the move permanent, and apparently Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is already in talks with Chelsea about what the terms would be.
Inter have all the leverage in these negotiations, and Chelsea can’t hope to get anything close to the €100m they paid.
However, at this stage, they really want to get the problem off their books, and taking a big loss to do that quickly is perfectly acceptable.
