Nandi County voters heckled their Senator, Simon Cherargei, for skipping the nomination queue during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations.
During the voting exercise on Thursday, April 14, the residents held that they had waited in the long queue for long since 6am and hence would not allow a latecomer to jump and vote ahead of them.
“We have been here since morning and we are tired, how can one come from nowhere and directly go to the polling booth while we are still standing here. He has not been coming here to seek our votes…You can see this is a population of 3,800 people and we are using one stream. That is unfair,” they said.
The Senator stated that he respects voters and had no intention of offending anyone. Cherargei went on to say that he had joined the queue at the correct point and had not skipped it.
“I think everyone is impatient on the line because we’reare using one stream and they are supposed to be three. Most people have been here from 5am. Everyone is tired. It’s okay to queue, there is no problem,” he stated.
