Chief Justice Koome Reshuffles Judiciary

The transfers occur shortly after several High Court judges were appointed to the Court of Appeal.

Chief Justice Martha Koome has made changes in the judiciary. 

The transfers occur shortly after several High Court judges were appointed to the Court of Appeal.

In order to fill gaps caused by judge promotions, particularly in busy High Court Stations, transfers are made at the Chief Justice’s discretion.


On August 1, 2022, Lady Justice Mugure Thande, who previously served in the Family Division Milimani Court, will begin serving in the Constitutional & Human Rights Division.

Additionally relocated is Lady Justice Grace Nzioka,who previously served in the Criminal Division at Milimani Courts, will take over as Naivasha’s presiding judge on September 15, 2022.

It is anticipated that the exceptional case management techniques she developed while working in the Criminal Division of the High Court will be applied in Naivasha.

Justice Kanyi Kimondo will move from Murang’a and assume the position of Presiding Judge in the Criminal Division at Milimani Courts starting 15th September, 2022.

Justice Antony Mrima who has been serving in the Constitutional & Human Rights Division becomes the Presiding Judge of the High Court in Kitale from the 1st of August 2022.

His transfer follows the appointment of Justice Luka Kimaru to the Court of Appeal.
