All mobile subscribers are required to register their SIM cards, and it has nothing to do with the forthcoming 2022 general elections, CAK has said.
“The deadline, unfortunately, fell during the election year. We had given Kenyans a 60-day window to register their SIM Cards, starting from February 2022.”
Ezra Chiloba, Director-General of the Communications Authority, has warned that anyone who does not comply would be disconnected on April 15 as advised.
The activity, according to Chiloba, is aimed at unregistered users who possess SIM Cards illegally.
He stressed, however, that anyone who confirms that their Identity Card is registered on their lines by dialing *106# does not need to register again, but must give their ID and photo details to the mobile operators.
