CAS Obure, Two Others Vindicated From Aglo-leasing Fraud Scandal

Transport CAS Chris Obure together with all the other co-accused persons have been acquitted over the Aglo leasing fraud.

The Anti-corruption Magistrate Ann Mwangi sitting at Milimani Law courts said that the prosecution failed to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt for the court to place the accused persons in their defence.

Chris Obure was charged alongside three other accused persons in 2013 over the Aglo leasing fraud of 2001. However, one of the accused persons succumbed to illness.

While reading the judgement, the learned magistrate noted that the law permits her to enter a verdict of not guilty hence acquitting all the accused persons.

Hon. Chris Obure in a press release outside the court after the acquittal said that as the Senator of Kisii County he could not deliver his constitutional mandate due to pressure mounted on him by the court proceedings.

Further, he said that he is finally free and happy that justice has finally been served.
