Five members of a family have perished after a fierce fire engulfed their house in Gaikuyu village in Mathira, Nyeri on Christmas night.
The inferno is reported to have started shortly after 2 am killing a man, his wife, their two sons and a female relative who had visited them for Christmas.
Mathira East Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Patrick Meso, who confirmed the incident, sent a message of condolence to the affected family and promised hastened investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
