Police in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County, have moved the body of a second-year student at Chuka University who jumped to his death.
Deputy Sub-County Police Commander Nguta Lewa verified the occurrence to the media in his office at Chuka Police Station, noting that the student died after jumping from the 7th story of the institution’s Science complex building.
Purity Ntinyari Marangu, was apparently preparing for exams in the building before jumping out a window.
According to the Police Commander, investigations to determine what prompted the student to commit suicide are ongoing.
He advised students to always seek help and further cautioned them against taking away their own lives.
The university administration promptly rushed her to Chuka Referral hospital where she succumbed to death on arrival and her body was moved to the mortuary.
