Church groups threaten to launch anti-BBI campaign

Kenya Church Alliances and Ministries express disappointment on the implementation of the constitution 10 years later

More groups are coming out to oppose the recommendations of the BBI, with its latest opposition being men of the cloth.

Church leaders under the Kenya Council of Church Alliance and Ministries have threatened to mobilize Kenyans against the Building Bridges Initiative Report.

While addressing the media, the leaders say their proposals were not considered in the final report.

The leaders have accused the government of sidelining the 2010 constitution yet there is another push to amend it.

The leaders are adamant that the process favored those tasked with its implementation, leaving out those with a different opinion.

“It’s quite evident that the process has been passive and only focusing on areas that favour those tasked with its implementation.” Said Bishop Steve Mutua who read the statement on behalf of the aggrieved clergymen.

The leaders called on Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga to have the BBI document opened for further review.

Church leaders expressed their concern in the rush to pass the BBI, saying that some of the proposals needs to be reviewed as they pose a great danger to the nations stability.
