Two men who were released on bond were today arraigned in Milimani Law Courts to answer their gold cartel case.
Jonathan Okoth Opande and Steve Ochieng Odhiambo appeared before Magistrate Susan Shitubi of Milimani Law Courts to answer a case of obtaining money by false pretense.Â
The two accused persons are believed to have obtained Ksh25,760,000 from an unsuspecting victim pretending to be in a position of selling him gold.
According to the prosecution’s report, the accused persons organized an informal business meeting with Samuel Olaleye Adeyeni who is the complainant in the matter.Â
The said meeting is believed to have occurred on diverse dates between January 19 and February 18, 2019, at Lagos Hotel within Nairobi where Mr. Opande and his co-accused conned the said Adeyeni over Ksh 25m pretending they would sell him 250 Kilograms of gold.
The case was coming up for mention today in court before its adjournment to May 3, 2022 for pretrial.Â
