CJ Koome Fires Back At Ruto Allies

Chief Justice Martha Koome has trashed calls for her resignation for allegedly getting involved in 2022 poll planning.

CJ Koome spoke at the Annual Devolution Conference in Makueni County on Thursday.

The chief justice reitarated that she was acting within the law and cannot compromise the Independence of the Judiciary.

“The independence of the Judiciary is deep, it is fundamental and cannot be taken away simply because I have sat with other agencies of governments and with politicians. We are required by our constitution to collaborate and coordinate our affairs,” she stated.

The Chief Justice has been under fire by Ruto allies for her decision to join the part the technical committee on the 2022 elections.

However critics have been told off by a section of the country’s leadership including ODM and Jubilee politicians.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua urged UDA wingmen to stop attacking the judiciary.

“I want to request idle politicians to stop meddling with the Judiciary and stop attacking our able, super woman Chief Justice Martha Koome…”
