After a team of court officials stationed at Garsen Law Courts in Lamu County were shot at and injured by suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists, Chief Justice Martha Koome has promised judicial workers of security.
“I would like to assure my colleague judges, judicial officers and staff that the judiciary values the safety of all our people and partners who work in very difficult conditions to secure the right of access to Justice for all Kenyans,” she stated
Koome added the security of court officers is a primary priority for the Judiciary.
The Chief Justice also ordered the Judiciary Police Unit to conduct a security audit of all judges, judicial officers, and personnel across the country, particularly in places where security is a major concern.
Garsen Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Paul Rotich, a court prosecutor, a court assistant, and two police officers are among the authorities.
