CJ Koome To Host Chief Justices Forum

All set to host the East African Chief Justices, the heads of Judiciary Academies in the region, and a selection of senior judges to discuss topical issues such as e-justice, funding Judiciaries, the role of courts in enhancing economic development and integration.

The East African Chief Justices Forum and East Africa Judicial Education Committee joint symposium in Mombasa will also discuss Alternative Dispute Resolution and anti-corruption. Chief Justice Martha Koome will open the event.

The convention, which will begin on December 15, 2021, will be used to create Rules of Procedures that will guide and govern the Forum of EAC Chief Justices’ activities.

It is expected to boost judges’ and judicial officials’ knowledge and awareness about improving access to justice, as well as their understanding of the vital role of courts as tools for economic development, social transformation, and regional integration.

As a regional economic bloc, the East African Community recognizes the importance of courts and the justice system in advancing the integration goal.

Respect for the rule of law is one of the key values enshrined in Articles 6 and 7 of the Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community.
