Chief Justice Martha Koome is expected to deliver her determination over the leadership squabble in Wajir County.
Embattled Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud summoned county leaders to order on Tuesday, insisting that he is still in office.
On Monday, a High Court sitting in Meru breathed a sigh of relief for the governor, ordering that the Chief Justice form an even-handed bench to hear the case.
”It is hereby directed that the matter be heard by more than one judge and it shall henceforth be dealt with after the Chief Justice exercises mandate under articles 165(4) of the Constitution,” the orders read.
Governor Mohamud cautioned at a news conference from the Council of Governors headquarters that the ongoing leadership squabbles might spark inter-clan violence and urged Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to step up security in the region.
