ICT CS Joe Mucheru has dismissed claims that there is a plan to rig the August 9th election saying the allegations by UDA are unfounded.
CS Mucheru says IEBC is the only institution mandated to conduct the elections and as an independent body has what it takes to ensure the exercise is free and fair.
Mucheru was reacting to allegations by Deputy President William Ruto’s secretariat that there is a deliberate attempt to rig the elections in favour of Azimio La Umoja Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga.
He said he has a right to support whichever candidate he wants without fear of intimidation and harassment.
CS Mucheru said DP Ruto is in Government and seeking the highest office wonder, “Now they are saying I have more capabilities than he does, and yet he is a sitting Deputy President who is running as a candidate, is it me who has more resources or him?”
He said in 2017 they were campaigning together with DP Ruto and at the time it was perceived to be alright, wondering why this time it’s different.
CS Mucheru has urged the UDA brigade to focus on their campaigns and avoid making unnecessary allegations that have no basis.
