Cleanshelf Looting: DCI Hunts Goons Captured On CCTV

The nationwide protests by Kenyan youths against the proposed Finance Bill took a disturbing turn when criminal elements capitalized on the situation to wreak havoc on innocent business owners.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a manhunt for suspects who broke into businesses, including Cleanshelf Supermarket in Ongata Rongai, under the guise of peaceful demonstrations.

The DCI has obtained CCTV footage from the Imaging and Acoustic Unit at the National Forensic Laboratory, which has identified several individuals involved in the criminal activities.

“We have arrested some of the suspects and charged them in court, but we believe there are more out there who need to be brought to justice,” said the DCI in a lengthy Facebook post.

“We urge anyone with information on these criminals to come forward and assist us in our investigations.”

The DCI is appealing to those who have been identified in the CCTV footage to surrender immediately and cooperate with the authorities. Failure to do so will result in severe consequences.

Even as a fresh wave of protests begins this week, the public have been urged to remain peaceful and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
