A Kenya Kwanza meeting organized by former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Cleophas Malala turned ugly after a brawl over endorsement.
According to rally attendants, Khalwale urged Mumias locals to vote for anybody they wanted for any seat, claiming that they are all Kakamega County citizens.
“My people, I am Khalwale. I want you to know that I come from Kakamega, Malala comes from Kakamega and Fernandes from Kakamega. All of us are seeking seats. Weigh us and pick whoever you want for any seat. Chose one who will care for you. Remember Khalwale is the best legislator in Kenya. “
The senator’s views did not sit well with Malala, who stepped to the microphone and slammed him, saying he is confused.
“What is he saying now. He is confused. Stop being confused. This is my stronghold. If you have started eating from both sides let him say.”
Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula, the coalition’s main Luhya leaders, were present.
Khalwale, who addressed during the event, dismissed any enmity between Kenya Kwanza parties in the region.
