Comedian Eric Omondi Arrested Again At City Stadium

Comedian Eric Omondi was arrested on Wednesday, March 1 while distributing maize flour to his supporters at City Stadium in Nairobi.

The renowned comedian had invited his fans to come for a packet of maize flour ahead of his planned demonstrations at State House next week.

“This Wednesday we meet at City Stadium from 11 am to 2 pm as we share a packet of unga with everyone that intends to join us to State House. We are calling upon well-wishers to donate unga,” Omondi said on Monday.

While being arrested Omondi defended himself, arguing that most Kenyans are facing economic hardships.

“Wakenya wenzetu hawana unga. Ni unga tu nilikuwa napeana,” Omondi said.

This is not Omondi’s first arrest for protesting against the high cost of living.

The popular comedian was arrested Tuesday last week after attempting to storm into Parliament buildings with a group of shirtless muscular men donning black shorts.

Omondi was later freed on a Ksh 10,000 cash bail after he pleaded not guilty to taking part in an unlawful assembly.
