A contractor tasked to refurbish Kangundo Road has now complete the works. Saxxon Investments Limited has recarpeted the busy road and opened up the drainage to protect the road pavement.
Consequently, Umoja Estate and upcoming estates along Kangundo Road are now more accessible, following the road works.
Among the scope of works is the construction of a service lane and a pedestrian walkway. The works were undertaken by Saxxon Investment Contractors, funded by the Fuel Maintanance Levy.
Currently, Saxxon is undertaking marking of the road and opening up drainage culverts.
Congestion at the Kangundo- Outering junction has now eased, despite the increase of traffic on the road. A service lane to ease congestion has also been constructed, enhancing vehicular movement.
The works are being undertaken under the Performance-Based Contract(PBC). This concept was introduced by the Kenya National Highways Authority(KeNHA) in 2013 to ensure the proper utilization of road maintanance funds.
It has been widely utilized along Thika Super Highway,
Isiolo Merille, Mombasa-Nairobi Highway and the Thika- Garissa.
