Contractor on Notice over stalled Highway

Government Cabinet Secretaries have put a road contractor on Notice to either speed up the completion of a key Machakos County road or risk losing the tender.- By Gerald Gekara

The team, comprising of Cabinet Secretaries Monica Juma, Keriako Tobiko and State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita urged the contractor to fast-track completion of Kenol-Ngoleni-Kaani/Mutituini-Kaseve road.

The 56-kms road is 60% complete and according to the contract, way behind schedule.

Upon completion, the 38 kilometre road will ease the movement of people and goods and open up Kathiani and Kangundo areas for investment.

According to Transport CS James Macharia, the road project in the region was allocated Ksh 1.2 billion.

It was launched in July 2017, by the Deputy President William Ruto in a politically charged event.

Juma & Tobiko & Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita are in Machakos County inspecting National Govt projects.
