US rapper Kodak Black has been sentenced to 46 months in prison after pleading guilty to weapons charges.

In a report by BBC, Kodak pleaded guilty to falsifying information on background information on background forms to buy four guns.

The 22 year old whose real name is Bill K Kapri, has had a successful career in music with the number one album in the US last December.

The court heard that one of the guns he bought was used in an attempted shooting in March where it was alleged that a rival rap artist was the intended target though there were no charges against him in regards to that shooting.

The prosecution in the case had asked the court to give a sentence of 8 years bearing in mind that the offence he committed attracts a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison

While awaiting sentencing Kodak is also alleged to have bitten up a prison warden.

Black’s lawyer Bradford Cohen is quoted to have told BBC; “After the court was appraised of all the facts and circumstances of this case and the good charitable work that Bill has done over the years, the court rejected the government’s request of 96 months and sentenced Bill to 46 months.”

The rapper has had a number of legal charges and spells in prison in recent years, and is known for his violent lyrics.
