A female police officer arrested for attempted robbery was been arraigned in court today where she was charged with robbery.
A Mombasa court heard that the officer identified as Hellen Wanjiku, together with her accomplices identified as Fredrick Gateri and Harrison Biko, earmarked Mama Ngina drive as the area where they would rob residents of vehicles and other valuables.
It is said that they frequently visited the area as they waited for their victims to leave their vehicles.
In his sworn affidavit tabled before Mombasa principal magistrate Vincent Adet, the investigating officer, told the court that the trio attempted to break into a car parked at Mama Ngina.
However, they fled the scene after they realized the owner was still inside.
“On June 30, the same suspects went to mama Ngina to rob unsuspecting Kenyans. They were, however, intercepted following intelligence report on their activities,” said the investigation officer.
The officer sought to have the suspects detained for five days to allow the police to complete investigations.
