The event, dubbed “Africa’s Green Momentum: Harnessing Renewables for Industrialisation,” focused on transforming Africa’s energy landscape and securing a sustainable future for the continent.
The session underscored President Ruto’s ambitious vision towards advancing Kenya’s energy strategy while also showcasing the nation’s proactive measures at both the national and continental levels to reduce reliance on fossil fuels by 2030.
Distinguished participants from around the globe lauded Kenya’s swift progress and its commitment to fostering a green energy future.
Building upon discussions held during the Africa Climate Summit (ACS) in Nairobi, leaders expressed the continent’s readiness to spearhead the next wave of industrialization through the establishment of modern green industries.
The dialogue emphasized the importance of the African Leaders Nairobi Declaration on Climate Change and Call to Action, which has gained significance in global renewable energy transition conversations.
The discussions also highlighted collaborative initiatives designed to facilitate this transition, including the Accelerated Partnership for Renewables in Africa (APRA) and the African Green Industrialisation Initiative (AGII).
These efforts aim to ensure equitable benefits from renewable energy projects across the continent.
Also in attendance were Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Hon. Opiyo Wandayi and Environment and Climate Change Principal Secretary Dr. Eng. Festus Ng’eno, marking a significant step in Africa’s collective commitment to sustainable energy development.
