Coronavirus fears have dashed Liverpool’s hopes of being crowned Premier League champions after Manchester City’s home game against Arsenal was postponed on the day of the game.

The match between Pep Guardiola’s side and his former assistant Mikel Arteta’s new team had been scheduled to take place at 7:30 pm on Wednesday but was postponed in the early hours as a “precautionary measure”.

This is because a number of Arsenal players had met Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis, who has contracted coronavirus.

It is said that a section of Arsenal players met the manager two weeks ago when the two sides met for a Europa League fixture.

With a 25-point lead over Manchester City, who have 10 games remaining, Liverpool could have secured their first League Championship in 30 years.

If City were to draw against Burnley then Liverpool would require four more points to secure their 19th League Championship.

However, if City beat Burnley then at this stage another six points are needed for the Reds to make sure.
