County Official Shot Dead By Unknown Assailants

He was hit in the chest and abdomen, according to the police.

Around 6 a.m. on Sunday, three armed men confronted Taufiq Abdallah, a county employee, and gunned him down in Mombasa County’s Kuze area old town.

The assailants, who were said to be on a motorcycle, approached Abdallah and his friends outside their home as they prepared to leave for the nearby mosque for Eid ul-Adha prayers before shooting him several times and killing him on the spot.

“Walikuwa wamechinja mbuzi wakingojea kupambazuke waende zao msikitini wakaswali kitendo cha dhulma kikatendeka hapo ni akina nani mahali imebaki twamwachia mwenyezi mungu ndio atakaye mhukumia,” said the victim’s uncle.

He was hit in the chest and abdomen, according to the police. Security cameras on the scene also revealed that Abdallah was found lifeless and bleeding profusely on the pavement.

With the attackers having vanished without a trace, police have launched an investigation to determine who they are and what motivated the murder.

CCTV cameras in the old town area are expected to provide vital information that could lead to their arrest.

“Twaweza kusema pengine si serikali ni majambazi yote lakini twasikitika cha unyama mtoto mdogo na anasiku za kupaa Zaidi,” said Omar Shariff, an Old Town resident.

A post-mortem examination was performed at Coast General Hospital, and the late Taufiq was buried according to Muslim customs.
