Couple Killed in Naivasha Plane Crash

A tragic plane crash in Naivasha’s vast Kedong Ranch claimed the lives of Marcus Dunn and Anne Dunn on Thursday evening as they were returning to their farm in Loldia.

The light aircraft crashed at around 5:14 PM, with authorities citing poor visibility due to fog as a possible contributing factor.

Rescue efforts were significantly hampered by the challenging terrain, with police and emergency responders taking over six hours to reach the crash site. Upon arrival, they recovered the bodies, personal effects, and a firearm from the wreckage.

    Investigation Underway

Naivasha DCIO Isaac Kiama confirmed the incident, stating that the aircraft was trapped in a valley upon impact, complicating rescue and recovery efforts.

“The aircraft and its occupants were trapped in a valley upon impact, making access difficult. Foggy conditions may have played a role in the accident” he said.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed the crash, adding that investigations were underway.

“Preliminary reports indicate that the accident occurred at approximately 17:14. There were two persons on board, both of whom have unfortunately lost their lives. The flight had departed from Wilson Airport and was en route to Mabruk” KCAA said in a Friday morning statement.

The couple’s bodies were transported to a private mortuary as authorities continued their investigations.

This incident follows a string of small aircraft crashes in Kenya, highlighting ongoing concerns over aviation safety, particularly in adverse weather conditions.
