A Nairobi court has declined an application by Marvin Wanyutu Waweru seeking to halt police investigations linking him to a suspected luxury car theft scheme.
Chief Magistrate Dolphina Alego ruled that Waweru had not demonstrated any legal basis to interfere with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as they examine how a Mercedes-Benz S500 came into his possession.
Waweru had moved to court asking for the vehicle, which is currently in DCI custody, to be released to him.
He made the request despite lacking documents to show he is the lawful owner.
He also argued that detectives were unlawfully holding the vehicle.
In her decision, Magistrate Alego found no wrongdoing on the part of investigators, noting that the car remains central to the inquiry and must be preserved as an exhibit until the matter is fully resolved.
The dismissal of the application means the DCI will continue with the ongoing probe without any court imposed restrictions.
