Kisumu Employment and Labour Relations court has barred Kisumu health workers from proceeding with the strike.
While issuing the order which was certified as urgent, Lady Justice Jemimah Keli ordered a temporary injunction that restrains the Kenya National Union of Nurses(KNUN), Kenya National Union of Medical Laboratories Officers ( KMULO), Kenya Union of Clinical Officers and Kenya National Union of Pharmaceutical Technologists from striking pending hearing of inter parties scheduled 13th April 2023.
The county government of Kisumu moved to court to bar the health workers from striking.
Health workers in Kisumu had issued a strike notice on 31st March after the county government failed to honour January and February 2021 salaries as ordered by the same court.
They also cited lack of promotion of health workers and a lack of drugs and medical equipment in health facilities..
