A Nairobi court has extended the detention of three Kenyan nationals who are facing extradition to the United States over alleged hacking-related offences.
Appearing Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai,he ruled that the suspects will remain in police custody until Monday, March 9, 2026, when the court is scheduled to hear and determine their application for bail and bond.
The extradition proceedings were initiated by authorities in the United States through INTERPOL channels and formally presented before the Kenyan courts by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), in accordance with Kenya’s extradition laws.
During the court session, the defence team indicated that they intend to oppose the extradition request, setting the stage for a legal battle over whether the three should be surrendered to American authorities.
The matter will proceed to a substantive hearing, where the court is expected to consider arguments on both the bail application and the legality and merits of the extradition request.
The outcome will determine whether the suspects remain in custody pending extradition proceedings or are released on bond as the case continues.
