15 of the 17 people detained for reportedly stoning a helicopter carrying former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on April 1, 2022 have been discharged by an Eldoret court for lack of evidence.

The 15 were released by Senior Resident Magistrate Emily Kigen after the prosecution claimed it had no case against them.

However, the prosecution said it had established evidence against two suspects, Abednego Kiptanui and Kenneth Kipkosgei.

The court ruled that the 15 be released unconditionally and the two to take a plea.

The windshield to Raila Odinga’s chopper was shattered on April 1 when he was leaving Jackson Kibor’s farm at Kabenes in Soy, Uasin Gishu County, when he was attacked by a crowd.
