Reprieve to five officers attached to the Gigiri police station in Nairobi alleged to have aided the escape of 13 remandees as Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi releases them on Ksh 200,000.
The officers are linked to Tuesday’s escape of Collins Jumaisi, the main suspect in the serial murder of women whose bodies were retrieved in Kware dumpsite in Nairobi.
Magistrate Martha Nanzushi while granting them the bond said that there were no compelling reasons to warrant the 14 days.
The five officers; Ronald Babo,Evans kipkurui,Mollent Achieng,Zachary nyambuto and Gerald Mutuku are said to have been tasked to guard
In affidavit filed by Officer Benedict Kaulu, the DCI was seeking to detain the five police officers for fourteen days.
According to the Prosecution, the five officers were arrested after the escape of 13 remands who were in custody for various offenses and investigations has been commenced to establish if they had a hand into the escape of the prisoners.
