Peter Natesero Lengusu has been sentenced to life imprisonment after the Kabarnet Magistrate Court found him guilty of robbery with violence, following a successful prosecution led by Prosecution Counsel Sidney Koech.

The offence took place on 10th August 2024 at Kampi Turkana village in Marigat Location, Baringo South Sub-County.

Evidence from five witnesses, including the victim, supported by medical reports, revealed that Lengusu, together with accomplices still at large, attacked the victim, stole his mobile phone, and assaulted him using crude weapons.

The court heard that Lengusu had evaded arrest for some time before being apprehended by community members, who handed him over to police.

In her judgment, Hon. C. Ateya noted the seriousness of the crime and Lengusu’s total lack of remorse. The court also cited his chilling threats to kill the victim and others involved in his arrest, warning them to “start digging their graves before he arrives from prison.”

Calling the remarks evidence of an ongoing danger to the community, the magistrate imposed the maximum penalty;  life imprisonment.
