Court orders Nairobi County to reopen Central Park immediately

The Environment And Land Court yesterday ordered immediate reopening to the Members of Public of the Historical Central Park in Nairobi.

It was an historical win in the case filed by the Greenbelt movement after the Court directed the Nairobi City County Government to immediately reopen the central park that has been closed for four years now.

It was the Court’s findings that the Central Park was closed down without notice or publishing any information to the public to know as to when it will be opened.

“That an order is issued directing for the immediate opening of Central Park that has been closed down for shy of four years now, since November 2021, without notice, or publishing any information to the public to know as to when it will be opened.” Ordered Deputy Registrar Environment and Land Court Court-Nairobi.

The petition has been slated for a pretrial on February 13, 2025.
