Court Rejects Bid to Stop DCI From Investigating Man Linked to Mercedes Theft Probe

A Milimani court has dismissed an attempt by Marvin Wanyutu Waweru to block the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) from pursuing inquiries into his alleged involvement in a suspected vehicle theft scheme.

Chief Magistrate Dolphina Alego ruled that Waweru’s application lacked merit, clearing the way for detectives to continue investigating the circumstances surrounding a Mercedes-Benz S500 that was seized and is currently being held as an exhibit.

Waweru had asked the court to order the release of the vehicle to him, despite admitting he had no ownership documents to prove legal possession.

He further claimed the police were detaining the car unlawfully.

In rejecting the application, Magistrate Alego held that the motor vehicle remained a crucial exhibit in an active investigation and that the DCI was legally entitled to retain it until the probe is concluded.

The ruling means officers can proceed with the inquiry without restrictions, as the court affirmed that Waweru had not demonstrated any grounds to interfere with the investigative process.
