Court Sets Trial Date For Suspect Accused Of Spanking A Policewoman

The trial of a man accused of spanking a traffic police officer in public has been scheduled for next year.

Timothy Mulei appeared before Makadara chief magistrate Francis Kyambia on Thursday for his pre-trial hearing.

The prosecution confirmed that he had been provided with substantial evidence prior to the start of his trial.

The case is scheduled to be heard on January 24, 2024.

Mulei was accused in July of unintentionally touching a police officer’s buttocks while controlling traffic at the Roasters Roundabout on the Thika Superhighway on July 21.

He faces another charge of offensive conduct contrary to section 94 (1) of the penal code where he is accused of touching and shaking the policewoman’s buttocks with intent to provoke a breach of peace.

The officer attached to Kasarani police station was manning traffic with colleagues when Mulei who was walking along the road with his friends allegedly grabbed her behind as she directed motorists using the highway.

Other pedestrians who witnessed the incident walked past the police officer while laughing at her and the accused person started walking away.

However, the complainant’s colleagues who had seen Mr. Mulei allegedly touching her went after him and arrested him.
