COVID-19: 12 more die, as Kenya clocks 14,000 cases

12 more people have died as a result of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, government says – By Gerald Gekara.

In his address to the public, Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman confirmed that the death toll currently stands at 250.

Kenya has recorded 397 new cases in the recent update, further raising the caseload to 14, 168 infected people.

Nairobi county led with (239) cases, Kiambu (33), Machakos (27), Nyeri (17) Busia (16), Nakuru and Mombasa (12), Kajiado (10), Migori and Uasin Gishu (8), Kericho (5), Narok and Laikipia (3), while Kisii, Nyandarua and Lamu reported (1) case each.

In what poses as a win to the home-based care program, a total of 587 people have been discharged from their homes, with an additional 55 discharged from hospitals.

The Ministry of Health has so far tested about 249,998 samples for coronavirus, against the 250,000 mark set in April.
