Kenya recorded 884 new cases of the Coronavirus, out of 5,377 samples tested in the past 24 hours. This raises the total number of infections in the country to 130,214. – By Gerald Gekara.
In the new cases, 843 are Kenyans & 41 are foreigners, comprising of 464 females and 420 males.
The youngest case is a year-year-old baby while the oldest is 110.
In terms of counties, Nairobi recorded 509 new cases, Kiambu 99, Uasin Gishu 59, Machakos 48, Nakuru 46, Kajiado 38, Meru 13, Kitui 12, Nandi 11, Kilifi 9, Elgeyo Marakwet 5, Marsabit 5, Bungoma 4, Murang’a 3, Vihiga 3, while Kakamega , Laikipia, Nyandarua, Taita Taveta, Wajir, and West Pokot recorded 2 cases each.
Turkana, Baringo, Lamu, Migori, Mombasa, Garissa, Nyeri and Homa Bay recorded 1 case each.
89 patients have recovered, 57 are from Home Based and Isolation Care, & 32 are from various health facilities. This raises the total number of recoveries to 91,754.
13 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours out of which 2 occurred in the last 24 hours while 11 are late death reports from facility record audits that occurred on diverse dates.
The cases come at the backdrop of COVID-19 containment measures issued on Friday, 26th March.
Nairobi, Machakos, Kiambu, Kajiado and Nakuru counties have been zoned as high disease risk areas. The government has since barred movement in and out of the zoned counties.
