An additional 163 people tested positive for COVID-19 from a sample size of 2,283 tested in the last 24 hours, raising Kenya’s tally to 92,055. – By Gerald Gekara.
The country has surpassed the 92,000 threshold despite a drop in infection rates from yesterday’s 8.7 percent to 7.1 percent.
The cases were recorded as follows; Nairobi (94), Kiambu (15), Homa Bay (8), Uasin Gishu (7), Nakuru (6), Machakos (4), Murang’a, Kisumu, and Trans Nzoia (3) cases each;Mombasa, Kajiado, Meru, Laikipia, and Kakamega recorded (2) cases each, while Isiolo, Makueni, Bungoma, Migori, Nyandarua, Tharaka Nithi, Kirinyaga, Embu, Narok and Vihiga each had (1) positive case.
In terms of nationality, 156 are Kenyans while 7 are foreigners; consisting of 84 are males and 79 females. The youngest is a one-year-old infant and the oldest is 88.
In the same period, 424 patients recovered from the coronavirus; with 378 released from the Home Based Care Program while 46 were discharged from various hospitals. This therefore raises Kenya’s total recoveries to 73,452.
However, 6 patients succumbed to the virus, bringing the cumulative fatalities to 1,593.
