Kenya has recorded 461 new cases of Covid-19 raising Kenya’s total tally to 11,252. In the new updates issued by the Ministry of Health, Kenya is the worst affected among the East African states.
Uganda, currently under one of Africa’s strictest lockdowns has kept infections relatively low at under 1,000 confirmed cases, with no reported deaths. The government has loosened some of the restrictions but some remain.
In Tanzania however, the government has been left with 11 treatment centers in operation from the initial 84. The government has repeatedly said that the COVID-19 cases are drastically down, although no official figures on the pandemic were released since May.
Meanwhile Rwanda on Tuesday, July 14 reported 38 new Covid-19 cases bringing the tally of positive cases of this pandemic to 1,416. Only four people have died.
In his daily press briefing, Health CAS Rashid Aman said that Kenya’s 461 cases were recorded from 4,261 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
So far, Kenya has tested 225,465 samples, since the pandemic first landed in the country.
In terms of counties Nairobi continues to lead with 248 cases, Machakos (97), Kiambu (20), Kajiado (15), Migori (14), Busia (12), Nakuru (11), Laikipia (7), Nyeri (7), Kilifi (6), Lamu (4), Uasin Gishu (4), Kakamega (3), Kisii (3), Kisumu (2), Makueni (2), while Mombasa, Taita Taveta, and Bomet each had 1 case.
After the death of 7 more people, the country’s death toll now stands at 209. 51 new recoveries were recorded, further pushing Kenya’s treated patients to 3,068.
