Kenya has recorded 1,013 deaths from the coronavirus pandemic after the Ministry of Health reported seventeen new deaths in the last 24 hours.
The critical statistic has moved the president to reconsider its current measures to defend the covid-19, owing to the visibly threatening second wave of infections and deaths.
While appearing at a church service in Nairobi, President Uhuru urged citizens to uphold Health ministry protocols to avoid a slip back to the stringent containment measures that were lifted.
So far, 685 more people tested positive for the virus, from a sample size of 4,433 tested in the last 24 hours. This brings to 55,877 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country.
In the statistic, 659 of the total cases are Kenyans, while 26 of them are foreigners.
The Health Ministry also reported some 231 patients who have recovered from the disease over the same period. 130 of the recovered patients were from the Home-Based Care Program, while 101 have been discharged from various hospitals.
Total recoveries now stand at 37,194.
