Covid-19: State tightens measures on truck drivers as cases escalate to 672

Kenya has announced tougher measures on cross-county truckers who have been perceived to be the latest super-spreaders in Kenya’s coronavirus war – By Gerald Gekara.

The Transport ministry has sought to tighten all points of entry, even as cases linked to truck drivers continue to rise.

Truck drivers have been advised to seek testing facilities from the start of their journeys to avoid congestion at stop overs where testing activities have caused long queues.

Along the roads, the Health ministry will mount checkpoints to confirm weather the truck drivers have their ‘Coronavirus- free’ certificates and will only be allowed to continue with their journey if they are confirmed negative.

The ministry also announced testing facilities which truck drivers will use to undergo their early testing.
