Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Jeremiah Kioni has issued a stern demand for “solidarity” from coalition partners, insisting that the Ol Kalou parliamentary seat must be reserved for Jubilee.
Kioni’s vow to deploy “every resource” to defend the Ol Kalou seat creates a direct collision course with Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), which has already fronted Sammy Ngotho as its candidate.
“Since Ol Kalou was a Jubilee Party seat, we expect the United Opposition to stand in solidarity with us,” Kioni stated, warning that partners must “cede ground” to maintain a unified front.
However, with multiple DCP aspirants including Eng. Wilson Kigwa and Isaac Kinyua already dominating local polls, the refusal to step down highlights a deepening rift.
This internal power struggle threatens to fracture the United Opposition’s influence in Mt. Kenya, as member parties prioritize regional dominance over their alliance agreements.
The Ol Kalou seat fell vacant following the death of David Kieraho.
