After successful and speedy execution of awarded projects, global construction company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) is set to embark on the construction of a viaduct on Nairobi’s Kenyatta avenue, that will terminate at the newly upgraded Ngong Road. – By Gerald Gekara.
The project will include the upgrade of feeder roads located along the road jurisdiction, and see the construction of a viaduct that will alleviate above the existing highway.
On Friday, Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), who are overseeing the project held a stake holder forum where members of the public participated in the project by airing their views, reservations and suggested improvements to ensure the project is constructed with the will of the people as well as the government.
The viaduct will be a key addition to the newly announced business district that has recently seen multi-national companies set up their offices there.
The increased human activity in the area has signaled a drastic change in infrastructure with the recent completion of the Upper hill- Mbagathi way link, as well as stellar upgrade of the road network in the area.
CRBC is currently working on two major projects; the Nairobi Expressway and the Nairobi Western bypass.
The China based construction firm has successfully completed other projects such as the A109 highway, the Standard Gauge Railway, the Nairobi Southern and Eastern Bypasses.
The project has been poised to decrease traffic congestion in the area by providing a lasting alternative to junctions that connect Kenyatta avenue to offices and other feeder roads.
